Geography



Galle District that is the capital of Southern Province in Sri Lanka. The district lies on 6002’20.97” Northern latitudes and 80012’58.77” Eastern longitudes. The South-West boundary of the district is 80km long coastal belt situated in the Indian Ocean. The northern boundary is Bentota River and that separates Kalutara District in Western Province and Galle District. Matara District is in the eastern boundary of the district. The hilly areas are gradually formed from the flat coastal region. The area has been included under the lowland wet zone.
